HANDPAINTED FURNITURE

All my Handpainted Furniture pieces are re-used, previously unwanted items.  Sources have so far included charity shops, kindly friends, online free marketplaces and even a skip!  If it needs repairing I will do so and will only start preparing to paint once everything is in sound and usable condition.  Then I remove any unsound old finishes, clean, rub back and begin with several base coats of good quality chalk & mineral paint (usually one designed for outdoor use, so it's as tough as can be), followed by freehand decoration with chalk paints and acrylics, then two coats of clear topcoat and usually a wax polish as well.

When you have this furniture in your home, it's important to treat it as if it was a polished antique.  This means always using a mat or coaster, only giving a wipe with a slightly damp cloth when really necessary, and taking care not to knock or scratch it (unless you prefer a bit of "lived-in" look).
